During a summer internship in the Marketing Communications department at Western Colorado University, I was assigned to the task of creating two new stickers for use during the 2019 Orientation Week. Even though one sticker was to be aimed toward students and the other to the parents, I wanted the pair to be cohesive. I chose to focus my design on the school's mascot, Mad Jack, and use similar elements to connect the two. For the parent sticker, I illustrated Mad Jack in a simple, symmetrical, geometric style that I felt would appeal to parents. The main text says "Mountaineer Parent" and I changed the established date to 2019 to create a sense of pride. I chose a silhouette of his beard for the student sticker and the text is a common saying on campus, "Mountaineer Nation." The two stickers share the same font with the alternate letters for the "M" and "R" to create visual interest and further the connection. Identical elements were added to both stickers for their badge-like and rustic aesthetic.
