New Student Welcome Box

Western Colorado University

During my 2019 internship at Western Colorado University, I was given the opportunity to design the new art for the box that was sent to incoming freshmen after they made their deposit and committed to attending the 2020 school year. To differentiate it from previous years, I chose to make it a badge. A badge is something to wear and be proud of, and I wanted to encourage that feeling in the incoming freshman. I included the mountains and trees to incorporate the outdoor aesthetic that Western Colorado University has being located in Gunnison, Colorado, but kept it minimalistic so as not to overshadow the collegiate look required of the project. I used the brand-approved alternate font for the main text to distinguish it from other marketing materials but still be consistent with the school's brand. The design was made into stickers, t-shirts, and used on informational cards included in the box.
