CALL FOR ENTRIES POSTER

Pathfinder Magazine

The Pathfinder Magazine is a student curated literary and visual arts magazine published by Western Colorado University. I was a staff member for one semester and helped get that year's issue on its feet. Posters are created by staff members to solicit student submissions with either a visual arts or writing focus and the top posters are chosen to be distributed across campus. In creating this poster that calls for literary entries, I chose to feature five iconic writers. I created five separate illustrations based on reference photos of each writer in a cohesive, sketchy style. I laid out the poster using the illustrations in a purple-blue color that contrasts with the eye catching yellow background. The font is a simple sans serif that was then drawn over to give it a hand-drawn messy feel. Rectangles were laid over the illustrations to draw attention and create visual interest. Texture and ink splotches were added to mimic a crumpled piece of paper which is often a part of the creative process.
