Allay Magazine
Conceptual Project
Allay is a 31 page fictional magazine I created from scratch for a class project. The magazine's focus is on personal wellness and features articles on mental health, creativity, and mindfulness. The word allay means to relieve, alleviate, or put at rest-as in allay your fears. The magazine's brand is feminine, happy, and relaxing. The logo was hand-drawn using a brush and paint and then scanned and finished digitally. The unpolished nature of the brush strokes and even the two "a's" is in reference to the magazine's acknowledgement of our unfinished nature. The entirety of the magazine is illustrated (with the exception of advertisements) though I chose to use stock illustrations. A goal of the magazine would be to feature various illustrators in each edition in order to provide variety and support creatives and my choice to use stock represents that. All stock used is from freepik.com. Articles were gathered from other magazines and the internet to provide copy. Throughout the magazine, the same sans serif font is used to provide continuity in contrast to the changing illustrations.
